Going for speed
Im going the distance
I have to much going on today I won't be able to get my list together. But the draft was awesome as usual.
This draft was a crazy train
Going to wrap these up and get my playlist in order. Could go Incubus-Incubus to finish up but there are other Cake songs I really do enjoy, so let's make sure to get an additional song of theirs in here. This is a simple tune but a lovely one at that.
She'll Hang the Baskets
Last, I could go with any number of Incubus tracks -- there are still a ton I enjoy -- but let's wrap it up obscurely with a choice from Brandon Boyd's solo album. Not a bad album on the whole but it does not compare well to Incubus' best stuff.
Runaway Train
Cheers.

Pardon me as I make the best pick of the draft
Love this song and just realized it was still available and I snatched it with my 10th pick
PARDON ME
Ignoring the New Album
I like Incubus's new album. Really do. Thieves, Isadore, and In the Company of Wolves are songs I like, but I'm just not going to draft from it. Going to take this song as well as I wanted to represent one of Incubus's long, drawn out songs. I didn't want to pick Aqueous again. Love the guitar solo in this.
Sick Sad Little World
It's been fascinating to see the Cake songs picked. And even more interesting to see what didn't. It pains me to leave songs like Pretty Pink Ribbon, Waiting, Commissioning a Symphony, Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps, and ESPECIALLY Guitar Man on the board. But I'm going to take this song instead.
Sad Songs and Waltzes
Great draft everyone. I'll be developing my playlist tonight.

Addicted to Glove
One of my favorite Cake songs here. Almost interchangeable with any of my other Cake picks from earlier.
Love You Madly

Kickin' It Old School
AA's going old school Incubus with both of his picks here.
Speak Free and Vitamin
Speak Free and Vitamin
Intergalactic Planetary
I could take any track from Make Yourself and be comfortable. Makes it a little harder to just choose one.

I Promised Obscure ...
... and now I'm going to start delivering. The transformation of this track compared to the original is staggering.
A Certain Shade of Green - Acoustic Version

Off the Radar
I have never used these next two songs an any playlist I've ever made... That is rare for me in any draft. Both are from Cake.
Stick Shifts and Safety Belts
You Part The Waters

Affairs of State Must Take Precedent Over ... Affairs of State
It has nothing to do with this song, I just love this quote.
Satan is my Motor
Satan is my Motor
It's Anarchy, I Tell You, Anarchy!
Yes, in an unprecedented move, I am about to break protocol. In these dire times, AA and I are invoking executive powers and forging ahead with the draft. We have a deadline to meet, people!
Now, if Abby was planning on taking this track all along, maybe we'll reconsider. For now, it's mine. It was mine in the last draft too. I promised to myself not to reprise too many picks from that draft, but I think this was one of the non-negotiable choices.

One of Ian's Wedding Songs
Ian played this song at his wedding. Yes, his wedding was that awesome. Anyway, this is the THIRD song that I've now taken that CJ took in our initial draft.
On another note, it's the song that got me back into Incubus after college. I had a few year layoff where a college friend had stolen my discs. Anyway, this girl I was seeing at the time asked me if I liked this song and I needed to listen to it. Played Morning View cover to cover and never looked back.
Echo
The aforementioned disc, well I use to play it all the time while washing dishes. It skipped during Warning so I never listened past that song; hence not knowing Echo. Still, this song rocked and was deemed by me as the best song never to be picked during the first draft.

New song but I love it. Promises, promises

New Skool for the old Skool with an exception to the rule
My next pick is also from the newest album. I really dig this one. SWITCHBLADE. I am also going to slow it down a little with SOUTHERN GIRL
Good Question Sir, Good Question
This is probably on no one's radar, but that's okay. This is my definite favorite from Incubus' new album (there's another track that's a very close second, though I enjoy practically all of the tracks on the LP). I'm cornering the market on slower tracks so far:
If Not Now, When?
If Not Now, When?
A Bryan Adams Two-fer
I see we are playing the: "Lets take all of Aaron's favorite Incubus songs" games... Wish you were here, The Warmth, I Miss You. All EASY top 5 songs for me. Oh well, I kind of planned on taking a lot of deep Incubus tracks in this draft simply for poops and giggles. In fact, I'm almost glad that they are going since I can now select these deep tracks without the internal struggle of seeing a personal favorite still on the board.
As for the title of this post, Bryan Adams got his first real six string at the FIVE and DIME. This weekend, while in Branson Missouri, I saw an actual five and dime.
Quick story. One girl explained to us that the local chinese place served cashew chicken which was fried chicken with brown gravy and cashews....yummy.
My two selections. The FIVE stands for track 5 on Make Yourself. Another CJ pick from last draft. It's one of their different tracks that jams.
When it Comes
The DIME stands for what I consider is Cake's catchiest musical track. I also like the fact that the lyrics are about something so trivial, showing you it's perspective. "You won't even pick me up cause I'm not enough, for a local phone call...."

I know cj was pissed when I took this song last draft, and here's his revenge.

Reluctantly crouched at the starting line ....
Sure, it's Cake's most popular song, but it got that way for a reason. Can't afford to see it taken by someone else.

Digging Under a Short Skirt
I'll be posting AA's picks while he is away. His first pick, I know it's a favorite of his from our first Incubus draft -- if I hadn't grabbed it with my first pick then, he could have very well taken it in the following round.
Dig
For his next pick, I find this is one of Cake's defining songs, totally enjoyable.

Adjectives on the typewriter....
I am way more Into incubus than cake, but this is my all time favorite cake song.Shadow Stabbing!
Well, Are You?
This song is a total jam. I think it's completely underrated, and maybe I could wait a few rounds to take it, but AA knows I adore this track. So anyway ...
Are You In?
Are You In?
And the first pick of the draft goes to ian trego
I am nervous to make the first pick of this draft. I want to make sure i make it a great one. I dont want it to be like when the eagles picked donovan mcnabb and have you guys boo me out of the building. But i know everyone loves this song, it puts on a mini vacation in my head when i hear it.
